Our Story
Our story began in 1964 when Dr. Philip Bellomio, a Rochester native, opened his office in a small building located at 465 Stone Road in the town of Greece. Starting from scratch, he built a thriving practice until his untimely death on June 6, 1977. Within two months’ time, Dr. Anthony Colaruotolo acquired the practice, becoming the youngest solo-practitioner in Monroe County at the age of 25, and starting the legacy that is Cornerstone Dental.
Through firm core values and an unwavering commitment to provide optimal oral health care, the practice gained a loyal patient base. Many retiring dentists, at the time, also referred their patients to the practice, confirming their trust in us and furthering our growth.
In 1994, with the addition of Dr. Daniel Palermo, the name Cornerstone Dental came to be: a play on words as it sat at the corner of Stone Road.
With two full-time doctors, we were able to increase our hours and services. This growth led to our current location at 3770 Mt. Read Boulevard in 2004, about 1 mile from our previous office.
Continued growth prompted the addition of Dr. Marc Malatesta in 2007. A long-time patient of Cornerstone and recent graduate, he brought with him current, up-to-date treatment philosophies and a strong commitment to the community in which he grew up.
Due to our deep-rooted history in the community, several retiring dentists sought to merge their practices with ours. Dr. Michael Andolina joined us in 2008 and Dr. Robert Smith joined us in 2012.
This prompted us to expand into and make use of the entire building in 2012. This also allowed us to continue to welcome additional practices into ours. In 2013, we welcomed the practice of Dr. John Agostinelli.
Upon the retirement of Dr. Colaruotolo, Chili-native Dr. Matthew Valerio joined us in 2015 and continued the tradition of bringing new practice philosophies and technologies into our practice.
In 2017, inspired by the trust of our patients and colleagues alike, we acquired the practice of Dr. Daniel Livingston and expanded to a 2nd facility in Henrietta. This has allowed us to serve a wider patient base in the greater Rochester area. Our location in Henreitta underwent extensive renovations in 2023, bringing it to a modern state-of-the-art facility to compliment the treatment we provide.
We also welcomed the practice of Daniel Squilla DDS in 2019, and Thomas Miller DMD in 2020.
As times change, and as modern dentistry evolves, we at Cornerstone Dental have and are continuing to meet the requirements of today’s patients. We pride ourselves on being a comprehensive dental practice and are able to provide all aspects of dental care, to include many specialty services. We now offer Periodontal, Oral Surgical, Orthodontic, and Pediatric Specialty services. With a deep-rooted history and over 60 years of service to the community, we understand the needs of today’s dental patient.
